These are great for the outdoors. I wore them camping, trekking, fishing, and rock climbing, and they stood up incredibly well. The kept from ripping or tearing, and are very light. The convertible feature is great too. I'm glad I bought 'em.

I purchased these pants intending to take them to the Grand Canyon. When I tried them on they were a little TOO snug in the crotch. Everything else about them was nice, just can't get over the tight fit. Sending them back.

I bought this years pair for a trip to Philmont. Disappointing compared to the previous years. They downsized or removed all the pockets which is bad for a person who likes to keep stuff easily accesible, the fit was horrible and the shorts made me look like an 80's basketball coach. I wear them for two out of 11 days on the trail. The previous years pants are amazing, fit right, pockets and actual belt loops. Need to go back to the previous year design which is the only reason these got two stars. Pitiful.

While I do have several pairs of these specific pants AND they are excellent, I had to return this pair. I mistakenly thought these pants were the "High Line Ridge Stretch Pant", which is what I really wanted to order. I really hope that Colombia can offer the High Line Ridge Stretch Pant as soon as possible. it's heavier fabric weight plus stretch make it an excellent choice for cooler times of year!!!!
I would recommend this product.

After enjoying last years pants, the new style has ruined the comfort and cargo size pockets.
All the pockets are almost half the size now. My keys and things keep falling out of the front pockets now. Sad that they have ruined a great designed convertible pant.
Will be returning these. Extremely disappointed.

I recently wore these convertible pants into a rainforest in Hawaii and they were very lightweight and dried in just a couple minutes without weighting me down and making things uncomfortable.
I love them and bought two more pairs the next day, while in Hawaii.

I think these pants are perfect for anyone spending time in the outdoors in various conditions. They are lightweight, don't hold water, and of course are versatile since they can be pants or shorts. I think they may be more designed for a slender person. I guess I must not be the target body build for these pants or something because even those these pants fit fine in the waist (34) they do not fit at all in legs/butt. Going to have to return them unfortunately. I would like to try a different size and see if I can find the right fit because these pants are top notch quality. Really nice belt that comes with them, too.
I would recommend this product.

The fabric is light and it's very ease to move around in. They are kind of form fitting through the butt and thighs. I prefer a loose fit. I got a few comments on that area...but if you're only using them for hiking, they are perfect.

There are only two things I don't like about these pants.
1. The belt loop runs all the way around the waist and is very narrow... no custom belts there.
2. The shorts are ridiculously SHORT. I wouldn't wear underwear that short. (not really)But seriously. I but a 32x34 pair of pants and the shorts are half way down my thighs... Go find me a person with a 34 inch leg that has 8 and a half inch thighs. For convertible pants, I am very disappointed.
Overall, if you are short go ahead and buy these. If you are tall, don't buy these as convertibles.

Finaly,a lite weight pant that is taylored and fits as if a par of slacks. Not baggy like the REI and other products. This is one that can be used on trips, out to dinner and casual ware. Run, don't walk, to get one. I have all four colors.

I just spent a week rafting the Colorado River, these where the only pants/shorts I brought. After getting doused, and dumped in the river, playing in the falls along the way, they always dried within minutes. They held up well sliding down falls too. I also use them as part of my summer Search and Rescue uniform in the Arizona desert, they stay cool, and hold up well in the brush.

Great pants except for the belt loop, which was poorly designed. I threw away the cheap belts that came with the pants and use a nylon money belt instead. It's a real pain to thread any belt through the loops. To make it easier, you might try what I've had to do. I removed the bottom 1" slat from a vinyl window blind from my bedroom window. I reinforced one end with a piece of duct tape. I then cut a piece of cord and pinned it to the reinforced end of the blind slat. I then slid the blind slat through the belt loops pulling the cord behind it. Once the cord was sticking out from both ends of the loops, I pinned the nylon money belt to the cord and pulled the belt through the loops with the cord. It's takes less than a minute once you get the hang of it. Roll the blind slat up, secure with rubber bands to keep it from unraveling, and take it with you on trips.
I would recommend this product.

The pants are light weight and, while from feel they seem delicate, are actually fairly durable. They keep my legs as cool as can be expected, and I appreciate the details on each of the pants.
All and all, I love the pants so far - I shopped a lot before picking these.
I would say a couple of things:
- the inseam for the shorts could stand to be a bit longer. I don't enjoy shorts that cut so far above my knees...and I am of small-average height (both legs and stature), I feel sorry for the tall folks...
- the crotch in the pants could stand to be a bit roomier. I had to actually by the next inseam size up to ensure I had ample room for my gear (I suppose that's figurative and literal).
- more colors would be appreciated
- the pants are in-between the correct length, for me. it seems that the 30's are more like a 28.5; I'm not quite looking for flood water, but small creeks maybe
I would recommend this product.

I purchased 2 pair 3 years ago which had an elastic waistband and individual belt loops(easy to position phone and thread belt). I recently bought 2 pair of the 'new' syyle which had a solid waistband and an almost continuous belt loop which makes wearing a different belt difficult to thread thru. I have returned the new pair.

While these pants held up extremely well to the Arizona brush on a 5 day backpacking trip, they failed in that the zipper of the convertible portion broke after only a few months. While I still use them as shorts, I am not pleased they broke so soon. I have a second pair though that has held up well.

There are a lot of strings hanging loose from the ends of the stitches and ends of the material, I had to cut a couple gobs out of the pockets as they kept getting stuck in the zipper, this is my first pair of pants like this so I don't know if its a characteristic of the material or just sloppy QC.
The go all the way around belt loop if frustrating me as I can't clip a leatherman/knife sheath unless its right on top of the pocket, I typically wear a sheath a bit further to the side. Being new to hiking pants is this normal, are you not supposed to wear things on your belt or something. The belt its self didn't bother me as much as other people, since it has no metal I just leave it in to wash.
They really do work well and I want to buy another if I could carry my leatherman, researching a pair without the big belt loop now.
I do not recommend this product.

Overall they are ok a couple bad things though. New belt loop is awful go back to the old one Columbia how can i use my own belt with this solid belt loop bad idea. I sloshed through glacier melt and snow in these on a trip through the Beartooths. Incredibly comfortable, dried quickly when wet. It may have been exertion, but I didn't get cold in the snow either. Didn't stretch, didn't get ratty looking. I hated to take them off at the end of the trip.
I would recommend this product.

These are hands down the most comfortable pant that I own. Extremely light and surprisingly durable. Only thing I would change is the belt loops. Cant fit a riggers belt through the current ones.
I would recommend this product.

I have bought several pants from Columbia in a size 32 waist and have been very happy. However, these pants are too large in the waist for me and I will be returning them. Very disappointing.
I would recommend this product.

I wore these pants repeatedly on a trip to Europe. They are attractive, comfortable, light, and the bottoms zip off and on easily. They wrinkle quite a bit after washing unless you hang or fold them right away. The belts do not move through the loops very well. Belts are very difficult to remove (as one border patrol agent asked me to do) and even more difficult to put back through the loops.
I would recommend this product.

The included belt is what makes these a horrible pair of pants. Wash once and dry once and the belt will take forever to get back through the sealed belt loops on the pants. Take my advice and look for another pair.
I do not recommend this product.

Zip pants are becoming hard to find. These pants fit well and are perfect for weather that changes from cool to warm as the day goes on.

I love these pants and they are both muy daily pants and my hiking pants. The two things that keep these from being 5 star for me are:
* The lack of a zipper in the leg bottom for removing with boots.
* The mesh material used for the internal pockets.
The boot zipper has been mentioned before. I have 4 pair of these currently and have had them for about 1 year - three pair have holes in or open bottoms in at least one of the internal pockets.
I would recommend this product.

These pants are comfortable, light-weight and versatile. The convertible pant feature further adds to the versatility, and thanks for putting the little tabs on to distinguish right from left removable pant-legs! Plenty of pocket storage, too!
I would recommend this product.

Switching from wearing cotton cargo shorts, to these pants was fantastic. I could tell the difference during 100 degree heat, and bright sun. The pants were not 'sticking' to my body, and they really were cool feeling. I had to order the next larger waist size, so they run small.
Very quick drying, and durable.
I would recommend this product.

Used them extensively in the Himalayas over June-July, am very happy with the comfort they provided. The fabric is excellent and the fit was perfect. They dry quickly and have good pocket (with zips/velcro). Stitching near the back pocket come off but it doesn't hold anything so not a big botheration. Would order another pair soon in a different color.
I would recommend this product.

I liked the material and the look. However, there were two things I did not like. I was unable to get the belt out of the belt loops and the size ran small.

I bought these for a tour through spain. They were great - lightweight, durable and extra pockets for security. I also wear them for golf and they are the perfect pants for that as well. I love them and now have two pair.

I bought both the Columbia Silver Ridge and Convertible Pants. Both are of good quality. While I liked the included belt of the Silver Ridge, I liked the pocket arrangement, depth of pockets, and fit better (for me) on the Convertible Pants. I kept the Convertible Pants and am sending the Silver Ridge Pants back. Try both and see which you like better. The Columbia return policy allows this and makes this approach reasonable.
I would recommend this product.

Just like the shirt, these pants are not the color the online catalog represents. I ordered a light gray, and received OLIVE pants and matching shirt. Decent color, so I'll probably keep them anyway - Both items WAY OVERPRICED and not worth it.

Zippers at the bottom of the legs would make it easy to get the zip-off legs over boots. That's my only complaint.
