The bill of the hat is not long enough. the material does not breath well. I prefer the "Ice" type frabric. Not Freeze
A few years back I bought some Columbia hat made with material "omni freeze "ice". The material was very breathable and works great. This new Omni-freeze zero is not even close to the same ability to cool when sweating.
I have been looking for other manufactures of the breathable type material. Very disappointed in Columbia

After buying a similar hat from a different manufacturer I wanted to try this one with the Omni-freeze. It is definitely cooler and the white color does a better job of reflecting hot sun.

I am in the process of doing all the Colorado 14ers (14,000 foot mountain tops), and have completed 45 of them. I like the sun blocking aspect of the hat, but it isn't an endurance accessory. It works for about 2 or 3 hours tops. Not sure what I was expecting, but it's a bummer when it stops working. I bought the Coolhead Cachelot and the light blue baseball hat version. Same results with both products. Great for an hour or two, but not the long haul.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dick66 Really small bill
I bought this hat to replace a what I thought was the same hat I purchased at Cabela's several years ago. IT IS NOT THE SAME HAT. The bill is very small and would not cover my average size nose. The hat is almost child like and appears to be a miniature. The body of the hat is fairly normal but the bill is WAY too small. I returned it. I don't think it is functional. I may try the Tamiani which appears to have a more normal bill.

I bought the hat for myself, however it was way too big for me, and it was even a little big for my husband who has a larger head.
The fabric and feel of the hat is very good though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jordon Tamiami Cachalot runs small and does not give adequate face, neck coverage either. Very skimp flaps.
The hat was too small plus the cut of the flaps was skimpy. It did not resemble the hat I had purchased several years ago. For a hat to really block the sun it should have flaps that are loose and longer so as to cover more of the face and the neck.
I retuned the hat and found a larger size in a local store but even though it is larger in size it is still skimpy and not really adequate to protect me from the direct rays of the sun. I am disappointed with the product and if you ever go back to your original hat let me know. I don't want skin cancer and having the proper hat protects the gardener and the fisherman also. It would help if the flaps could meet in the front and could be closed . Good luck....Jordon

The Coolhead Cachalot is far better at its job than two similar products I own that I'll have to donate somewhere. It also works better than a sweat band and under my bike helmet as well. When I fear I look a bit dorky, I tuck the tail under the cap top and it's -presto- a normal looking cap.
