OutDry™ Extreme is our first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric inside. Traditional raingear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With OutDry™ Extreme, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.
If you’re into layers and looking for the perfect shell, then the OutDry Ex Diamond is just what you’re looking for. This Titanium shell features underarm zips, a super-soft collar, a two-way, Vislon zipper in front, a snap-back powder skirt and a helmet compatible hood with peripheral adjusters.

Great Jacket. Odd Color ChoicesGreat Jacket. Quality and function are spot on. Technically, this is a great jacket. Super light, wind proof, actually breathable and water proof. Also has plenty of pockets in the right places, high quality zippers and and adjustable snow skirt. Color choices for this jacket are a bit tough; white, black and a yellow that does not look as good in person as it does on the site. Would love to own this jacket in red.
Sizing/cut in the body is a bit bigger and boxier than it needs to be. I went with a large to fit my arms and shoulders which left me with a bit more material than I need around the middle. I am hoping it holds up well over time since it works so well out of the bag.

Tested Tough indeed: my go-to shell!Columbia likes to have their clothing Tested Tough. So I thought there would be no better place to test the new Outdry Ex Diamond Snow Shell than the mountains of Alaska. This was the only shell I brought on my 23-day expedition on Denali. On day one when I pulled this out of my bag everyone looked at me like what is this and were very skeptical that it would work. Through driving snow, hail, rain, winds 50-80mph and the abuse of my climbing gear, this shell was bombproof!! Some of teammates were soaking through their shells. I never got wet, it breathed well, and no tears or rips. Love the ample pockets--storing snacks was easy and accessible.
This jacket stands up and even beats the competition. My only small gripe is that it is not super compact but it is worth the extra bulk to protect me and keep me going. If the price turns you off, then think about the cheaper shells you buy and then have to buy again years later. This will be your only shell for the brutal winter elements. This jacket proved to me to be Tested Tough!!!

Good, great, and will get betterFinally, no more 3 layer jackets that rely on DWR! As far as a hardshell replacement, this thing IS the new hardshell. Its totally waterproof, I stood in the shower. My G-T pants wetted out, they kept me dry, but in the wild i would get cold very quickly and start sweating, thus getting wet.
Has a bit of a rubbery feel, but the inside is really nice next to skin. Its not stiff like a rubber rain coat, it flexes like a new 3 layer shell.
Ill be using this jacket all year round in Colorado, its just too good not to have in my pack.
CONS: Fit. Im 6'3", this jacket torso length is great, arm length is about an inch too short. Also, it doesnt articulate in the shoulders. I have broad shoulders and its tight on my back when moving in a climbing motion, the sleeves ride up.
Overall, its game changing, finally, we dont need to rely on DWR and have a real all weather jacket that's breathable!
