I owned a pair of the women's "Titanium Ice Crushette" boots for years... I don't recall the year they came out but I would guess 6-8 years ago and when they finally broke away from the sole I replaced them with these...I would have bought the Titanium model they offer today, however I hate the colour red and that was the deal breaker. To say I'm disappointed with these boots is an understatement. They are not nearly as warm as they use to make them, there's not much give or cushion to them so they are uncomfortable against your ankles. They are very firm making walking any distance uncomfortable. I use them basically for shoveling the driveway and that's it because they are too uncomfortable to wear much longer. I'm sad to say that I will likely replace them with a non-columbia brand which is upsetting because I had such high opinions of my old boots.

Impressed with light weight boots. It will be nice to not have the extra boot weight when walking. Love the omni heat lined coats I have, so am looking foward to having warm feet next winter. I read other reviews recommending to buy a bigger size. Normally wear 9.5 and bought a 10. Glad that I did.

I got a pair of these boots in different color 5 years ago. I live in a rural area with horses, mud, snow. I wear these boots daily in winter. my feet have never got wet or cold. I wipe them off and people think they are brand new. these are truly the best boots ever made. thank you so much

This boots arrived just in time for a snow storm. They were fantastic, very warm. I wore them more than I intended without breaking them in, and had no problems. I haven't taken them on a long hike yet.

I bought these boots because I was only wearing Uggs outside... My feet were always cold!! I was just able to try out the boots in the last couple of days. This morning it was -13 degrees and my feet were fine! They are a little stiff but I will attribute that to them needed to be worn some more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cassidy Good boots for cold and wet weather.
Great boots for tromping around in the snow in, such as for shoveling out your driveway. Not perfectly hot and toasty, but that's exactly what you're paying for when you buy this boot rather than the warmer versions (ex Titanium). Basically good for every day suburban life.
Very stiff around the ankle though; make sure to wear tall socks because you are going to feel it, for sure.
Laces untie all the time unless you double knot them.
Careful when running; you may find yourself getting caught in your own hooks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by flippet Nice boot, but I miss my older models.
First, there are at least three reviews on this page that are complaining about the rubber on the older model of boot cracking. You should know - that is NOT this boot, so that complaint is more than a little unfair.
That said - I also owned a pair of the previous model boot (the Bugabootoo), and YES, the rubber cracked and crumbled at the toe. (After nearly 7 years of use, in my case.) I have heard that Columbia considers that a design flaw (and was replacing boots, though I don't know for how long, and I didn't ask that mine be replaced).
I bought these, hoping they would be as good. Well, I began with the lower model (the ones with the 6" shaft and one set of speed hooks, made in Vietnam), thinking that they looked the most like my Bugabootoos. Wow, was I disappointed. They felt weirdly 'stuffed', making them feel both too small, and yet too loose at the heel, at the same time. And the ankles were *really* soft and flexible, and the laces only went through fabric loops. I felt like the quality had GREATLY declined.
Then I thought I would give these, the Plus IIIs a try. Even though I did NOT want a taller boot, and 2 sets of speed hooks.
For whatever reason, these boots, made in China (like the Bugabootoos), DO feel stiffer and stronger around the ankle. This is a GOOD thing, it means they're supportive. They are not, however, as stiff as the Bugabootoo. You may think that's great - I think that's terrible, since I'm concerned that it means a boot of lesser quality. I LOVED the stiffness of my clodhopper, snow-stomping Bugabootoos, because it meant that I was getting a boot that would be very supportive, and built to last. I didn't mind that they 'bruised' the ankle for the first week of wear - again, it meant they were wonderfully supportive.
These Plus III boots are SUPER light. Probably half the weight of the old ones. (Not high on my priority list, but whatever.) The lower part of the boot is, surprisingly, NOT rubber. It's some sort of molded, waterproof, man-made material - and I didn't even notice at first. The soles are of course rubber, as is the toe-kick protector.
They fit well, true to size (but I like my boots snug, and I don't 'leave room' for thick socks...you should never have to do that with a boot that's warm enough to start with, and these are). I've worn them for a few days, now, and they're tall enough to feel weird while driving - but they haven't hurt my ankles at all. I still wish they were shorter, because I see no need for the extra height.
My biggest beef with these boots is the lacing system. The Bugabootoos had really nice, metal grommets, attached directly TO the upper leather. This was fantastic - I yanked those suckers tight on a daily basis, without a second thought. These Plus IIIs have much thinner laces...not sure I like or trust them, and they feel like they'd not hold as securely against themselves. But the grommets are....not good. They are barrel-shaped, and the laces go through them sideways, leading to the tension pulling them at an angle while tightening. I don't at all feel like I can yank them tight, and I certainly can't do it quickly. I feel like it's putting stress in all the wrong places, and like this will be the first part of the boot to fail.
Columbia - I hope you've made a good boot this year. I'm not overly optimistic - my first pair of Bugaboots lasted TEN years, and my second pair lasted 7 years. I have been a very happy customer in the past, I just hope that your quality and materials haven't declined, as I'm suspicious they have. Fingers crossed that I get another 10 years out of your boots (though my guess is more like 3, just judging by the feel of these).
