Reviews

Men’s Heatzone 1000 TurboDown™ Hooded Jacket is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent coat not warmest in world I read reviews on this coat that said warmest in the world, and boasted how this was tested by a third party and found to be warmer than others. Maybe, but it's not the warmest coat in the world. However having said that, it is a warm coat but not to warm. I have worn it in 25 degree Fahrenheit with a very strong wind walking alongside Lake Michigan with just a tshirt underneath and felt comfortable. I was not hot by any means, but at the same time I was not cold, just comfortable. I have also worn this coat in 40 degree weather and not been hot, nor cold but comfortable. It is a comfortable coat. I dont like the hood on the coat it is way to big and the string adjusters are no where near as good as the large velcro adjusters on other Columbia coats I have had. My wifes lay d down coat has a much better adjustable functional hood than my heatzone. I also agree with others about the sleeves running cool, the only place I feel cool in this coat is on the arms and at the seam on my back where the two different materials meet. There is one feature to this coat that is off the charts though. The liner of this coat has a very nice feel to it. I honestly feel like I am wearing a very soft sleeping bag when I put it on. I dont know what it is made of but obviously very high quality. Plus the coat does not leak feathers as other Columbia coats I have had in the past. In fact I have not lost a feather yet after three months of use. At least not that I know of. It seems to be very high quality in that regard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm but not durable I noticed little "nicks" in the material (soft material) after only having it 2 weeks. I am very careful with this coat so the durability is definitely lacking. If they coated the whole outside with omnitech this would be a 5 star review as the omnitech in the shoulders is more durable plus provides water resistance. If it's misting at all the soft material feels "wet" almost immediately, like it absorbs a lot of moisture out of the air. With that said inside the jacket is warm and soft. Inside 5 stars Outside 2 stars Columbias quality and durability has definitely decrease from 10 years ago, when I bought my original Jacket I had to warranty out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heatzone #2 This is my second purchase of this jacket and I could not be happier. I purchased this jacket last year in hyper blue as well. I live in Kenosha, Wi and this jacket gets me through the winters with no problem. Yes, this jacket is wind proof, highly water restiatant and the jacket it self is light and comfortable. Will buy another one next season.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good coat, but OMG is it UGLY!!! Black maybe, but this coat is so ugly! and the plastic-raised "Columbia" is cheesy. Looks like bling bling!!! Don't get me wrong - i love Columbia brand gear, but wow! Also, FYI, would probably be a nice coat in black, but be sure you want it for skiing, cuz the hood is extra large to fit a ski helmet. Not practice for an everyday coat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality Obvious stains (more than 3) and unknown dots on this jacket (online order). Can't believe it happens on the high end product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW This Jacket is just incredible. Nothing can compare.. I cannot praise it enough. It is extremely comfortable, yet can withstand some pretty extreme temperatures -5*C is too warm for this jacket. No Jokes. At -10*C its wearable...just Where it really shines though is when the winds pick up. Completely windproof, its keeps you warm and snug in the harshest of environments. Best Jacket ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insanely warm and lightweight, with *some* functional limitations I've owned this jacket for 1.5 years now, and it gets a 5/5 from me because it is both the warmest and lightest winter jacket I've ever owned. It's warm enough that I've been comfortable walking outside in -20F degree weather wearing just a short-sleeve t-shirt underneath (I've done this multiple times), and it's lightweight enough that I don't think twice about putting it on for just a quick walk down to the corner store...in fact, it's lighter than my everyday softshell jacket that I wear when it's 30-40F degrees! Now, there are limitations, which I'll run through quickly: there's no inner or outer chest pocket; while the arms, hood, and upper chest & back are waterPROOF, the body of the jacket below chest level is merely water-RESISTANT, and I'm not sure how it would hold up in a driving blizzard; there are no pit zippers or ventilation to speak of, and this jacket doesn't breathe at all; because of the aforementioned lack of full-waterproofing and ventilation/breathability, I'd never recommend wearing this jacket for skiing or strenuous physical outdoor activities. I think the strengths far outweigh the drawbacks in practice, so much so that I have no hesitation in rating this 5/5, but I feel Columbia could make some small tweaks to make this jacket even better in future versions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! The jacket / coat is terrific and just what I was looking for and hoping it was. I was a little nervous about the sizing, but it fits perfectly and the length is just what I wanted. The warmth is amazing, again, what I wanted. Regarding quality, it's what I have come to expect from Columbia: top notch with great construction from materials, to stitching, to zippers. The weight is next to nothing: the reason I wanted a down coat, and it really compresses for traveling. I am really pleased with my purchase and have nothing negative to say about the coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not just another jacket, but Life Saving Equipment! Greeting, allow me to share my little story with you. i've got a severe PsA(psoriatic arthritis) and for almost 3 years I've been buying Colombia Omni-Heat clothing. Only because of this I can endure the winter in Canada and my pain is less acute. Colombia Omni-heat tech is a modern miracle. Thank You Colombia your technology is my savior.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems nice, but very little insulation in most of the sleeves. This jacket seems like a great idea but is poorly implemented. The torso is very well insulated, but except for the very bottom compartment of the sleeves (maybe 1/5 of the total area, there is barely any insulating present across the shoulders and through your arms. It hasn't migrated down as it appears to be a separate compartment, so it must be designed this way. Effectively, I need to layer to keep my arms warm, but there is so much insulation in the body, that I then overheat my core. I wish they had been consistent with their insulating; if they had, this would be my favorite jacket. Also, it runs slightly large, but I consider this good for a winter jacket, where you should be able to layer under it.
