OutDry™ Extreme is our first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric inside. Traditional raingear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With OutDry™ Extreme, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.
Great for the trail, this fully-seam-sealed, waterproof, breathable Interchange Titanium jacket features ultrasonically welded seams, external taping, a “grown on” chest pocket with no stitching and our super-tight Light Rail zippers on the pockets, giving this jacket its unique look and feel.
OutDry™ Extreme - The Pinnacle of waterproof breathable technology
Our first ever waterproof and breathable rainwear with a tough waterproof membrane outside and soft, wicking fabric inside.
Magic in a littlesilver dot.
Breathable material with little silver dots that reflect body heat.

Shiny fabric with thin liner. The inner liner is very light weight for a winter coat. The blue color and shiny appearance of the fabric isn't captured well in the website photo. I sent it back.

Little Weird MaterialOuter shell is soft ,but not soft enough plastic, it does block the wind so good. Rain for sure. Inner cutting is a bit loose than my other columbia 3in1. the reflecting material is improved...it is more shinny. Hoody can't take it out, front chest pocket is smaller, side pocket are bigger now. Whole jacket is very light wt. My kids keep saying that i am wrapped by foil inside and plastic outside......in fact, it looks nice if you put it on.

Too big, color is off, and weird belly bulge.I am 6 feet, 210 pounds, a 44 inch chest, and 34 inch waist. I am on the upper end of the scale for a large, so I was expecting a snug, athletic fit. It is not. I could put a very thick sweatshirt on underneath and still have room to spare.
I ordered the night tide, thinking it would be a dark navy. It is much lighter, more like a gray/blue color.
Finally, and the reason I am returning, is when I am in any position where I am straight up or bent forward, there is a very noticeable awkward bulge that develops at the base of my sternum. It is uncomfortable and looks very weird.
I had really high hopes for this product and based on everyone else's reviews, I was thinking it was a no brainer. Unfortunately, this is not the coat for me.

Great Jacket. Not black.I ordered 2 of these for my company. I was quite surprised when they arrived as they are not black but grey in color. The photos online really don't show what the product is really like. The black version is made of a very shiny nylon material that is dark grey with a shiny metallic look to it. Think graphite pencil lead like. It has the look, feel and sound of a rain slicker. The comments I have gotten range from nice jacket but more people say "interesting jacket" then any other comment. It looks good and no one dislikes it, but it is different. The jacket is very well made and the liner is very thin but warm. Overall I kept this jacket for about 3 days before deciding to keep them. If you want to wear something different this is for you, but be aware that what you see online is not what you get visually speaking.

Winter classification not accurateI had purchased this with the intention of it becoming my new winter jacket and the description seemed to indicate that it was just that. However, when the jacket arrived, I was quite surprise to find how thin the liner was. It will make a great spring and fall jacket, but I ended up purchasing another "winter" coat from a competitor. Contemplated sending this one back. The Omni-Heat lining leaves a lot to be desired in my book. The collar is a bit stiff, but that may just need some break-in time. An expensive mistake on my part, but I guess that is the chance you take when ordering online vs. seeing the product first hand.

Wrong SuggestionI contacted your customer support via email in order to garner a suggestion for a replacement for a previous Titanium jacket that I was very happy with.
"Initial contact handled by agent 2603767. Skill Name - Columbia"
The product purchased was not comparable. I really like the liner but the shell was not at all what I had in mind. Its more of a "slicker rain jacket than what I had hoped for. I had sent pictures detailing what I had wanted. I have since returned the jacket for store credit and will hopefully find what I'm looking for second time around.
I do love your products.

Kick Butt Coat!!!Let me start by saying I seldom write a review unless it is on either extreme of the rating scale. However, Columbia clearly knocked this out the park with this technical coat!
I have sworn by Columbia product my entire life. Recently, when my 3-in-1 lost its ability to repel water, I contacted warranty department. Unable to fix it, Columbia was true to word and offered me a credit for a new coat.
While concerned with the steep price tag of the Men’s OutDry Ex Gold Interchange Jacket, I figured I had trusted Columbia for this long – why change now. When the coat arrived, I was surprised by the lightness of the shell and liner. The shell was shiny and somewhat noisier that I expected. However, with the sealed seams it looks like I could survive standing in the center of a hurricane and never get the slightest bit damp. My concern was not with the wet conditions but would this liner with the Omni-Heat technology keep me warm for harsh temperatures.
The real test came (3 days after receiving the coat) when I took this it on a major trip near Lake Michigan with temperatures bottoming out around 20 degrees and sustained winds of 30 mph. Being properly layered with my thermal layer and Columbia Titanium Snowpants, I not only survived the sub-freezing temperatures and wind --- I dominated the elements for 12-hours!!! Some of which were standing still for extended periods of time. BOOM!
My only suggestions for improvement:
• Two-way zippers – Access from the bottom of the coat without unzipping the entire coat
• Side-vent – I found the coat to be breathable as advertised. However, I still like side vent zippers as long as it does not compromise the being completely weatherproof.
• Removable hood or a way to tuck it away – Can flap a bit in high wind when not being used
• Mid-section drawstring for trimmed fit – I am 6 ft., 190 lbs. (Athletic Build) guy. There is a bit more room in the coat around the mid-section. However, it is not a major issue.
• Identify in the product description that it is indeed a “4-Season Technical Coat.”
Thank you Columbia – Keep up the good work!

In Pursuit of "The One"If I were to create my ideal waterproof, insulated 3-in-1 jacket, this would hit 85% of my criteria.
1. Great outer-shell; performs very well in torrential downpour weather.
2. Insulation is efficient and lightweight for temps 20F & above (depending on activity level). I recommend more layers of insulation below that.
3. Great value in that you do get three jackets in one for all-season function.
4. Look is contemporary but suited to casual work environments or the outdoors
1. Zippers on the inner jacket get "stuck" at times when pulling down (maybe this is a lemon?); not terrible though and no malfunctions yet.
2. Hood is not properly adjustable.
3. I'm not a fan of elastic cuffs. Makes me feel like I'm wearing a baby onesie. My recommendation: use an "invisible" elastic inside a conventional cuff like other fleece jackets.
4. No pit zip vents -- what happened? Did that get forgotten? They were on the OutDry Ex Gold shell when purchased by itself.
FIT / SIZING:
I'm 5'11", 186 lbs, 44" chest, athletic build. This jacket could've fit me better to form. It is an "athletic" fit as indicated on the site, however it allows more room in the belly area than I would like, making me feel marshmallow man somewhat. I get it, most customers fit a larger body profile, but that's not me (at least not right now, maybe 10 yrs down the road).
As a reference point the Large size Ex Gold Outdry jacket when purchased alone is a perfect fit. Maybe they add more room when selling it as a 3-in-1 interchange.
I would highly recommend this jacket for most people looking for a) 100% waterproof b) active use c) cost-effective.
The next step for improvement I would like to see Columbia take this jacket and make it better with a fleece-based liner much like the Denali North Face.
