Great Boot!I am currently in the Master Gardener program in my area and work outside in the cold and wet in multiple community gardens. Purchased these boots to keep my feel warm and dry in the cold, wet, muddy conditions here in the Northwest. They fit the bill perfectly! They are a bit stiff, but as I dig and spade my yard to put in my new greenhouse, this will help me with getting the shovel in the dirt/clay.

Really sturdy bootI had high hopes for this pair of boots and bought them despite reading all the other reviews. I wore them out in the rain and cold. My feet were warm and dry but I felt like an astronaut walking on the moon. These boots were too stiff at the ankle it made my calfs ache. I was looking for an everyday sturdy boot for occasional snow, lots of rain and cold weather. These would be great for hiking out in the mountains. I was really bummed I had to let them go.

Great bootsI have been using these boots for 2 weeks now and am very impressed. I have not worn thick socks with the boots yet they keep my feet warm. When I wore wool blend socks in them today, they were even more comfortable. These boots are clunky (does a well insulated winter boot exist that isn't?) but not has heavy as boots I've got from the competitor. The boots run small so order at least 1/2 size larger, and that was trying them on with dress socks. Overall, I hope these boots last and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Best boots everThis is my second pair of these--i actually wore out my previous ones and was happy to repurchases the most recent model. I have Reynauds, which means my fingers and toes can go numb from the cold easily. Ive tried so many pairs of boots (including the Winter UGGs!) and note kept my toes from going numb except these. And I walk the dog 2 hours/day in Canadian winters. Highly recommend

Found my forever bootsI have been looking for a warm boot for years. I have purchased several that were rated for -20 but my toes still froze. With all of my other boots I had to use foot warmers inside the boot to keep my toes warm until I found this boot. I waited to write a review until we had some cold weather to test it in and the last 2 weeks proved it. Below zero with minus 30 wind chills. Waiting for my commuter train my toes and feet were very warm with only one pair of Columbia merino wool socks. I have been outside for hours in them and still not one problem of being cold. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it is a bit snug in the calf but I either loosened the top row or just tied it at the second row. Had no problems then. I usually wear a size 9 tennis shoe so I bought a size 10 boot. Fit a little loose but not bad. With the thicker socks the heal was snug enough and the toe box was large enough to give my toes some wiggle room and not be squished together. All in all very happy with these boots.

not for wide calvesThese boots are incredibly sturdy and well made.
Unfortunately due to their rigid and almost molded nature they are not great for wide calves. The top portion of the boot felt like it was pressing into my leg, and since the tongue is narrow, there ends up being a gap between the tongue and the boot on both sides even when laced up. (This means that it won't be waterproof past a certain point) Overall the top portion was really uncomfortable.
But this is a testament to my particular build.
They do fit very well in the foot portion and are quite sturdy - I would definitely recommend them to those without wide calves.
Note: I ordered a 6.5; I wear a 6 in flats and a 6.5 in boots so for me these fit as expected.

Feet were freezingI bought these boots for a winter trip to Yellowstone. I used a sock liner and wool socks. While the temperatures were cold in Yellowstone (minus 30˚F), my feet were freezing while driving around the park during the day. I thought these would be about the warmest boots on the market. I would not use them for a cold weather trip. Very disappointed and would get my money back if possible. No one else in our trip was complaining about cold feet, either.

Good boot, but inaccurate temperature ratingGot these boots for backcountry winter camping trips we do. Wanted something sturdy and comfortable to hike in for about 10 km a day plus work around camp. The boot rating said -54C, which I assumed is the active rating for the boot. I figured a fair assumption would be to divide it in two for an "inactive rating". We hiked there in -20C's and my feet were comfortable with one pair of thick merino wool socks. We arrived at camp and I changed into dry merino wool sock liners with merino wool socks on top. I had purchased a half size bigger to make sure I could wear sock liners and socks inside without cutting off circulation. Within an hour my feet were frozen puttering around camp while setting up. The boots were very water proof though; stepped on some ice on the trail which broke and stepped in a large puddle, foot stayed dry! I think the boots would be ideal for temperatures up to -20C I don't think they would be warm enough even for an active rating to -54C, but they were comfortable and supportive for hiking.

Great line of footwearSo far these boots have been terrific, very warm and comfortable. I just replaced my last pair of Colombia boots after more than 10 years of heavy use. Talk about endurable. That's why I bought Colombia again.

Looks nice, but squeezes and freezesI am a size 6.5, reviewing a size 7.
I purchased these boots after the flurries in September, but haven't had a chance to try them out until this blizzard. I was looking forward to having a great boot with great ratings for everything from winter hiking to sledding with the kids.
Unfortunately, when you tie the laces it pulls the shoe tight enough to reduce circulation in the feet, while remaining slightly too loose around the top resulting in some snowy calves and ankles. I had to take the removable insole out of both shoes to try to improve fit, but it remained too snug. (I wear thin wool socks, which I wear with my sneakers too, so the problem is not with the socks.)
My feet were cold after less than an hour of hard shoveling, while most of the rest of me was warm. I was very disappointed in a boot I had researched and wanted so badly to love, but pinched and kept my feet cold.
