Statement By Columbia Sportswear
Our company motto is: we connect active people with their passions. Now that we have all spent so much time indoors, we’re looking forward to helping our customers get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of summer. We are excited to be reopening our stores around North America, starting with 30 stores in ten states around the country on May 15. Our priority is to create a safe environment for our customers, their families, and our employees as we begin enjoying the outdoors again.
We have been evaluating our store opening strategy very carefully, taking advice from state and local leaders and abiding by all government restrictions. We will continue to open stores based on our ability to ensure the health and safety of everyone who might be in our stores.
We are making changes to our stores to make sure all of us can practice social distancing. These changes include monitoring how many people are in a store at one time and rearranging fixtures that may cause people to get too close. We will monitor traffic patterns and make adjustments as necessary.
Our stores will be cleaned and sanitized before they open, and we will disinfect registers, keypads, and checkout surfaces between customers. We have installed plexiglass at many of the registers to protect both employees and customers. All of our employees will be wearing cloth face coverings, and those who interact directly with customers will also be wearing gloves.
We will clean our fitting rooms after each use, and clothing that has been tried on or returned will be put on hold for twenty-four hours before being returned to the sales floor.
Customers are also encouraged to make contactless payments such as Apple and Google Pay if possible.
We still have a long road ahead of us with COVID-19. Opening our stores and sharing our love of the great outdoors shows there is light at the end of the tunnel. We look forward to seeing our customers, just a little further apart. Welcome back!
Sincerely,
